modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

Hi,

I've a callmanager connected to 2 VG224 in SCCP. I've several analog phones and faxes and all works fine ( in pass-through ).

The callmanager is connected to a VG2851 and this one is connected to a primary E1.

The trouble is that I've connected a modem and there is no way to make it works. I hear "continuosly" the tipical modem call beeping but the calls does not connect to the other endpoint. It seems like it fails the handshake.

Any help/experience ?

Many Regards

Luigi

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

At this time, fax passthrough on SCCP controlled VG224 FXS port is not supported.

Restrictions for SCCP Analog Ports

?Modem and fax-relay are not supported on FXS ports with SCCP enabled; only modem and fax

pass-through are supported. Configure FXS ports with either fax or modems attached in

H.323 or SIP mode.

This is a bit confusing (badly worded) It should read,

Modem and t38 fax-relay are not supported on FXS ports with SCCP enabled.

Only modem and fax pass-through are supported, configure FXS ports with

either fax or modems attached in H.323 or SIP mode. Please change to one of these protocols and verify if that fails.

So, you can still configure VG224 with CCM to use SCCP. In CCM, do not configure/provision

the ports you have fax machines on and use H323 for those.

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

Hi,

sorry but i'm configured in SCCP because by this way the analog telephone are configurable like IP-phone. Some people told me that for modem could be better H.323, but modems are not so important, in my deployment.

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

Hi !

This problem can solved by doing the following on VG2851 & VG224 :

- In VG224: check configuration again and add the following commands:

!----

voice service voip

modem passthrough nse payload-type 110 codec g711alaw redundancy maximum-sessions 1

- In VG2851: check configuration again and add the following commands:

!-----

voice service voip

modem passthrough nse codec g711alaw redundancy

!-----

.....

!

dial-peer voice 4 voip

description ***** Destination *****

destination-pattern 4...

modem passthrough nse codec g711alaw redundancy

session target ipv4:

dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric

codec g711ulaw

no vad

!

Hope these commands help you solving the problem.

Tks

PS: SCCP and MGCP are tested. Now everything are working properly.

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

hi, i also find the solution for this issue,

CCM(5.x)--MGCP--ISR

CCM--SCCP--VG224(12.4.15)

Analog and fax works fine, but modem is always failed.

according to your confiugraion list above, I want to know whether the 'dail-peer voice 4 voip' can work, since the protocol between ccm and isr is mgcp, so i don't think this dial-peer can work.pls help

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

Hi Luigi.

I'm dealing with a similar scenario here; VG224 with SCCP and voice & fax (passthrough) calls are fine. The modem passthrough calls inbound (from PSTN) are still fine, but all the modem call out are failing.

All originating&terminating gateways are both configured for modem passthrough nse payload-type 110 codec g711ulaw redundancy.

Any ideas? Could you find a resolutions to your case?

Thanks,

Cristian

Re: modem connected to VG224 in SCCP

Did the configuration listed above work for this problem? We are looking at this as well.

Thanks,

Mike
