I'm using CallManager 4.3(2)sr1c and a 2821 VGW with IOS 12.4(15)T9. The Music on Hold audio source is the server. No MRGs or MRGLs are configured. We mention the specific music to be played on the line and on the phone. We have centralized CallManager with remote site that don't have a server onsite. At our remote sites we can hear music on hold when we call internal numbers, but people who call us from an external number only hear tone on hold. We want music on hold everywhere. We are running unicast music, and there are no ACLs on any ports between the server and the remote site. Ideas?

Try to check the IPVMS service parameters

I did that and there wasn't much to see. We use G.711 a-law and it was there along with u-law and G.729. Flags set to true. Not a lot going on. Anything else?

Try to add command ip multicast-routing

you mentioned you using unicast,

add MRGL to the Gateway and reset Gateway should fix the problem

I had already done the MRGL thing. What finally fixed it was looking at the call when it was going out my router. A codec of G.729 was being negotiated. When we forced G.711 on the dial-peer, it magically happened.
