MOH over E1 line through router doesn't work using Multicast

I am new to the VOIP world. MOH using Multicast is working between IP phone to IP phone but between IP phone to say a mobile phone (through MGCP Gateway E1 line) doesn't work.

I know I have to get additional information, but is it possible to get some help with urls / pointers on how to set this up and how to troubleshoot the setup to determine where the problem is -- CCM or MGCP gateway. This would be much appreciated.

Have a look at the following URLS, the general MOH information could help. The second link on Multicast Addressing might help if the MOH source/router is configured port incrementation.

Re: MOH over E1 line through router doesn't work using Multicast

Once the MOH server configuration is complete, (enable Multicast on MOH server, music source, MRG etc), make sure you enable multicast routing on all network equipment from the MOH server to where the IP PHones, PSTN gateway etc are. Also make sure multicast routing is enabled on the PSTN gateway and the command ccm-manager music-on-hold is enabled on the router.

Re: MOH over E1 line through router doesn't work using Multicast

I couldn't believe when we fixed this by disabling the 2nd NIC on the motherboard of the call manager. In fact this second NIC did not even have a cable plugged in. Why would MOH not work to PSTN phones but would work to IP phone to IP phone when the caller is put on hold would be caused by a unconnected (but enabled) NIC port on motherboard? Mystery but fixed by disabling unused NIC port on motherboard.
