Moving from 4 Digit to 5 Digit Extension

Hello All,

Due to ever expanding business we are on the verge of running out of Directory Numbers on our CUCM. The plan is to move from 4 digit extension to 5 digit extension.

Below is a brief outline of our setup

5 X CUCM Servers

UCCE

IPIVR

We have total 4 sites.

What we plan to do at the moment is to prepend the existing extension numbers with one digit, and the starting digit will be determined by Directory Number type and Location.

For example:

All CTI-RP will change from 4XXX to 14XXX

All Phones in Site 1 will change from 2XXX to 42XXX

All Phones in Site 2 will change from 2XXX to 52XXX

All CTI-Ports will change from 9XXX to 29XXX

We understand that IP IVR related ports will hev to be deleated and then recreated.

for all other extentions we will have to do a DB upddate.

If any of you have gone through the same, please let us know of tips and considerations for the big move.

Thanks,

Rakesh Kashyap
