mtp and transcoder om CUCM

Sergey Balyura

Hello all!

I have a strange situation.

I have CUCM and two 2911s.

First 2911 has transcoder and mtp on it. I added both of them onto my CUCM. both of them are "registered".

Second 2911 has CME on it.

CUCM and CME (2nd 2911) have SIP trunk between them.

and I try to use mtp (or transcode).

on CUCM I limit the bandwith by the region - up to 729.

on CME (2nd 2911) I insert g711ulaw as codec in incoming dial-peer

on 1st 2911 I have:

sccp local GigabitEthernet0/0

sccp ccm AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD identifier 1 priority 1 version 7.0

sccp

sccp ccm group 1

associate ccm 1 priority 1

associate profile 40 register 2911xcode

dspfarm profile 40 transcode

codec g711ulaw

codec g711alaw

codec g729ar8

codec g729abr8

codec g729r8

maximum sessions 3

associate application SCCP

and even I check the "Media Termination Point Required" or not - the situation is the same - codec mismatch.

I'm thinking CUCM does not even try to use the transcoder at all...

how to force CUCM to use the hardware transcoder?

please help me in solving that problem.

P.S. I inserted this hardware transcoder in Media Resource Group. MRG is inserted in MRG List. MRGL is selected in SIP trunk.

when I remove the codec statement in incoming dial-peer on CME - the problem disappears

Hi.

Can you post dialpeer config section of both first and second 2911?

Thanks

hello!

is dial-peers on the first CME important? because it have to work just as MTP or XCODE...

this is the dial-peer section on th second CME

dial-peer voice 777 voip

translation-profile outgoing TO_OFFICE

destination-pattern 700...

session protocol sipv2

session target ipv4:192.168.45.231

dtmf-relay rtp-nte

codec g711ulaw

no vad

!

dial-peer voice 1 voip

incoming called-number .

codec g711ulaw

I use it now just for testing of mtp and xcode...

Hi Sergey,

I guess this line is missing:

sccp ccm group 1

     bind interface GigabitEthernet0/0

     associate profile 40 register 2911xcode

Make sure also you have include this in your gw:

voice class codec 1

      codec g711ulaw

      codec g711alaw

      codec g729ar8

      codec g729abr8

      codec g729r8

dial-peer voice 555 voip

     ...

    voice-class codec 1

     ...

Cheers,

Cesar

hello!

truely speaking I have forgotten the statement "bind ..."

insert it already.

about dial-peer - at which CME do I have to insert it?

do I have to have some special dial-peer at the first CME (with mtp and xcode)?

the question to simplify solving...

how can I debug the transcoder using?

I want to understand whether my CUCM asks for the transcoder resources or not...

Read the CUCM traces of the call.
