Multi cluster distributed with GK scenario

Here is the scenario:

5 sites located in AU, US, UK, DE. Three sites have CME and two sites have CM.(6.1(1)

Each site has his own IOS gateway with connectivity to PSTN.

Question:

I can either create trunks between callmanagers (GK controlled) OR just send calls through gateways (GTWYs are connected to GK)

What advantage do I gain by creating GK controlled trunks between callmanagers Vs. just sending the calls trhough H.323 gateways?

thanks,

rdianat

You can configure H.323 gateways either with gatekeeper control or locally as gateways. Sometimes an anonymous H.323 device, a device that is not known to Cisco Unified Communications Manager, tries to initiate (send or receive) calls with Cisco Unified Communications Manager. This anonymous device could be a Cisco IOS product (such as a gateway) or any third-party H.323 device.
