Find and download the firmware

Download an SFTP server (FreeFTP, Mini CoreFTP)

Go to CUCM OS Admin and select SW updates, follow steps.

Hi Captin,

Just to add a note to the good tips from my friend Gonz (+5 points for your good help Gonz:)

Firmware Files via the new Software Downloads;

Voice and Unified Communications > Cisco Unified IP Phone 7945G > Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) Software > 8.4(1)_SR1 > cmterm-7945_7965-sccp.8-4-1SR1.cop.sgn

The ReadMe notes and install instructions are available once you click on the Download.

From this page (that won't paste properly I'm sure :)

http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/ImageList.x?relVer=8.4(1)_SR1&mdfid=281346594&sftType=Skinny+Client+Control+Protocol+%28SCCP%29+Software&optPlat=&nodecount=2&edesignator=null&modelName=Cisco+Unified+IP+Phone+7945G&treeMdfId=278875240&treeName=Voice+and+Unified+Communications&modifmdfid=null&imname=&hybrid=Y&imst=N&lr=Y

This is done via OS Admin>Software Upgrades

Software Upgrades

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can use the Software Upgrades options to perform the following types of installations and upgrades:

•Install/Upgrade-Use this option to upgrade the application software, install Cisco Unified Communications Manager Locale Installers and dial plans, and upload and install device packs, phone firmware loads, and other COP files.

•TFTP File Management-Use this option to upload various device files for use by the phones to the TFTP server. The TFTP server files that you can upload include custom phone rings, callback tones, and phone backgrounds.

When using Cisco Unified CallManager Release 5.0 or later

For Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0, you must do all software installations and upgrades by using the Software Upgrades menu options. The system can upload and process only software that Cisco Systems approved. You cannot install or use third-party or Windows-based software applications that you may have been using with a previous version of Cisco Unified CallManager with Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0.

Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page

Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.

Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

After validating the MD5 has the correct value, click Next.

In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.

Check that you received a Success message.

Hope this helps!

Rob

If you are installing a new device pack unlike CCM 4.x which gives an option to install the new laods but not to update the device default page- CUCM5.X, 6.X does not do this. Instead it will also update the device default page which could result in all your phones getting a new getting a new load if they reset

Thank you for the Help..
