New Cisco SIP Phones-Hearing Impaired

Were starting to upgrade our 7940 SCCP phones to the newer 8961 & 9951. On the newer phones I noticed that the handset mic and earphone work a little different now. The local mic input(my voice) no longer plays in the earphone when I speak. I'm sure this is no problem for everyone else but if your totally deaf in one ear like I am then it is a little dificult to speak clearly if I can't hear my own voice. Similar effect to covering both ears and trying to talk normally.

Is this a configurable option?
