No audio/mic once callee answers

Cisco IP Communicator 7.0.6.0

Windows XP SP3

The softphone is slaved to a 7965

After installing the softphone and a Plantronics WG201/B Voyager PRO UC, everything works, such as testing under the Audio Tuning Wizard. However, when a call is placed, when the callee answers, the headset goes quiet - no audio, no mic. So dial tone, key tones, ringing is heard, then nothing.

The same thing happens without the headset, using the laptop built-in mic and speakers. The same thing also happens with an incoming call. I can hear ringing, but when I answer the call is answered.

Any ideas?
