Now for external calls

Hi all

I now have thanks to this these forums got  my call  manager 6 set-up (vmware) and able to make internal calls, I now wish to  try and go to the next stage of making external calls...

I have a  Cisco 2081 running c2801-ipvoicek9-mz.124-11.T2 with the following  Hardware: -

4 Voice FXO Interfaces
3 DSPs, 48 Voice Resources
1  Cisco Service Engine

This used to be used as a CCME but I would  like to use it as my Voice Gateway, problem is I'm not sure which route  to take; SCCP or MGCP and I'm hoping you could point in the correct  direction for the Router I'm using.

For a PSTN gateway, I prefer MGCP but you'd typically go with MGCP or H323 for that.

Well, you wouldn't use SCCP for the gateway (except for any conferencing/transcoding resources you have). You would likely use MGCP or H.323. Since you are learning you could try both and figure out which one you would like to use.
