Odd prblem when connecting to a Cisco 7960 IP with SIP image from a local SIP client

Hi All,

We have a number of Cisco 7960 IP phone with the last SIP image (several years old), and register these to a Cisco VCS - NOT CUCM. For our needs this works reasonably well as the phone are only used as standalone auto-answer SIP clients.

However, I notice something peculiar when trying to connect to the SIP phone from a different standards based SIP client (Jabber Video - not  Jabber for CUCM or the Jabber service!).

Jabber fails to connect to the phone localy. However, as the VCS interworks H.323  and SIP calls, an H.323 local client can connect with no issues.

The ONLY way that I can get Jabber to connect is to get the VCS to route the call out to the VCS-E, then back in the VCS-C, which then Interworks the call from SIP-->H.323-->SIP!!!

Does anyone have any ideas?
