only 600 IP Phones and only 30 H323 real calls= High CPU utilization, and High H323 calls

Hi guys,

I experience the problem below if you already experience it.

There is a cluster of CUCM (1 pub, and 1 sub). all IP phone have been configured to register in the subscriber.

There are 600 IP Phones registered

Call activity in average is 30 only.

The Voice Gateway is a H323 Gateway.

But suddenly, the call goes from 20 to 1800 active calls. and the CPU goes to 70%. If CPU reach over the 70% all attempted calls are cutted.

After 10-15 minutes, the graph goes-back to 20.

See a capture below :

This issue doesn't happen every day.

What can I do? Is there any reason or any solution?

Regards,

Antra

Antra,

Sounds like you are hitting an H323 route loop of some kind.

Can you look through the RTMT syslog probably for the SUB server and see if there are any pointers

Route loop over H323 trunk

ICT Call Throttling

Event Description: This event occurs when Cisco Communications Manager has detected a route loop over the H323 trunk. As a result, Unified Communications Manager has temporarily stopped accepting calls for the indicated H323 device. This event is generated by monitoring the syslog messages received from Unified Communications Manager.

Default Polling Interval: Not Applicable

Default Threshold: Not Applicable

Recommended Actions: Remove route loop.

Alex.

Thank you very much.

It's realy a call loop.

Here, it is not on an ICT but between the voice gateway and the CUCM.

Antra

I've searched in the CDR analysis and Reporting.
