Paging / Receiving calls issue

Our front desk person came to me recently and told me of a problem they are having:

When they page internally, if the person answers the page and calls the operator back quicker than the operator can end/disconnect the page, then they (operator) are unable to end the page, or take any incoming calls...

Has anyone seen/heard of this before? Occasionally I can hear them talking over the paging system because they cannot disconnect it immediately, It seems to eventually time out after like 30 seconds.
