peering phone system in two diff.. office

I have two offices, I want to be able to call some one in office A from office B by just dialing a phone ext.. If I have Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series for Small Business. How can I set this up? do I need static public IP or can I use a dynamic IP service?

Hi, that is called trunking and is explained in the configuration guide. It is recommended that at least one site have static address, but it is not necessary. In that case you will need to configure IPsec tunnel with dynamic DNS and resolution.

If you never configured these things, I recommend you locate a reputable engineer to do that, as these coudl take much time and frustration to you.

I want to set up a test LAN on my own, I have 3 phone lines can I use the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series for Small Business as a test and connect the 3 phone lines to it and connect 5 IP phones to it and config the device so I can make out side calls and calls within the test LAN?

Absolutely, beside you would be able to configure the ipsec / dynamic and DDNS commands later necessary to trunk over another unit. You can test that to any another router.

The 500 comes with CCA a wizard than you can use initially to get a feel about the system, then move to cli config for professional results.
