Phone keyboard layout for XML Service

Hello,

I have a CUCM 8.6 with 7960 and 7962 Phones.

Cisco 7960, Firmware 8.1(2)

Cisco 7962, Firmware 9.2(1)

If I use the builtin corporate directory with any of the phones, my keyboard layout for the button "2" on the phone is like this: abc2....

If I use a 3rd party XML Service for another addressbook, the keyboard layout for the button "2" on the phone is like this: 2abc....

I have installed this 3rd party XML Service for addressbooks in lots of my installations without any problems. Just in this last installation the keyboard layout is wrong.

I asked the vendor of the 3rd party XML Service for an solution. He told me that this is not his problem and I should look for an solution with cisco.

Does anybody know how to change the keyboard layout for XML Services.

Best regards

Manfred

Phone keyboard layout for XML Service

Manfred,

What do you mean by "phone keyboard"?   Can you please elaborate where you are seeing the "2abc...."

By the way whoever your vendor is that provides the 3rd party solution if they are blaming the company they are integrating to I would be very skeptical of using them as that tells you they will probably not be in business for long time with such an approach, just my 2c.

Phone keyboard layout for XML Service

Hi Chris,

with phone keyboard I tryed to describe the buttons on the phone to dial the digits.

For example if I press the "2" button

   1 times, I can see a "2"

   2 times, I can see a "a"

   3 times, I can see a "b"

   4 times, I can see a "c"

and so on.

We had no trouble with this vendor in the past. They have a software called Metadirectory with connectors to other LDAP systems, ODBC, ASCII, CRM Systems and lots of others.

With this software I import lots of contact informations to the Metadirectoy. The same tool provides a XML Service for accessing this Metadirectory with an Cisco IP Phone.

The only reason for using this tool is that CUCM doesn´t provide such a service.

Best regards

As long as I remember CUCM was working the way you describe, "abc2...", so if the 3rd party has it the other way around it's basically difference of how each application works as one has nothing to do with the other. If they are not willing or unable to change it you certainly will not get Cisco to change it.

If you are saying that you expect that application to also use "abc2...", but it does not then again this has nothing to do with Cisco but purely the developer of the application.

Phone keyboard layout for XML Service

Hello,

I did some more troubleshooting on this problem and figured out that this has to do with the german locales 8.6.2.1000-1.

If I switch the phone to english locale, everything is working fine.

If I used the same 3rd party tool with older german locales everything was fine.

I started a TAC case for this problem. My questions are:

- is there a solution / workaround for this problem

- how can I go back to an older version of CUCM locales.

Best regards

Manfred
