Phone timeout when downloading file from TFTP server

I have Cisco IP phone in a lab environment. I am downloading the file of 20 - 50 Kbytes and 2 - 4Meg from a remote TFTP server. I am able to download small file but am unable to download large file of 2 - 4Meg. The tftp server is on a remote location on a 512K circuit. Latency is above 250ms.

TFTP server sends packet size of 512 byte by default. Does call manager or Cisco IP phone have the option to change the packet size?

What are the other options available?

The packet sizes cannot be changed within CCM or the IP Phone afaik.

Have you considered implementing priority queuing, or using the 512k circuit during low usage period?
