Problem with fxs port

Hi

We are using FXS port for external paging,it is conected to speakers.It is hanging multiple times, it is going to off-hook state when user stops paging again it is not comming to on-hook state,when i shut and unshut the port it is comming back to on-hook.

Help me  to debug why the port or slot is going to hanging mode.

FXS model : PID: VIC3-2FXS/DID and 3945 model router with 8.6 CME.

Hi,

Seen problems with this before.

The issue may be voltage levels

Can you try adding this the fxs voice port

!

voice-port x/x/x

shut

idle-voltage high

no shut

!

Then monitor to see if this helps

Sorry, the command is not supported on VIC3-2fxs cards

Can you try this instead

!

voice-port 1/0/1

supervisory disconnect lcfo

!

I hope u r doing good.Still port is hanging..kindly let me know how to debug if there is any problem with  FXS module ?..I changed the port also but still it is going to hung mode(Off-hook),it is not comming to on-hook state after droping call..

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in responses.

Can we go back to basics.

Ensure that the wiring from the FXS port is 2 wire only.

FXS PORT RJ11                                           TELE KIT

3 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- TIP

4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- RING

No other wires should be connected

Try testing the port with a POTS type telephone or linesmans butt
