Questions regarding CUCM and CCX communication

Does anyone have any suggestion for documents or books that do a good job of describing the signaling and media communication paths for CUCM and CCX?

I would like to learn how the two boxes work.

I know that is pretty broad, but if anyone know of some good reference material, I would appreciate a suggestion.

What the services do on each server, what is the communication between the two.
