The reason it isn't supported is there is no mechanism for the backup agent to force Informix into a consistent state before taking the snapshot. The call volume is irrelevent; it's the database that matters. This is why those backup products have agents for things like Exchange and SQL: it forces a sync to disk of all outstanding transactions. Since you lack root access (and presumably an Informix agent) you're out of luck.
