jose,

cisco design says not to configure any remote location phone using cme.

But yes techinically you can configure it.No CME phones supports locally g729 codec. so u cannot use it.This is the only reason why i feel cisco doesnt recommends to use phones across.

hi Vishwesh,

can u pls provide some link where cisco is not recommending registeration over the WAN.

we are seriously looking for this.

regards,

K.Vishwesh is incorrect.

You can perfectly deploy remote phones with CCME and Cisco has never recommended against.

From CCME 4.1 Datasheet at:

http://cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_data_sheet0900aecd805e1a1f.html

...

Remote tele-worker IP phone support

...

Link to configuration guide for remote phones:

http://cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807e13a7.html#wp1061320

Also stating that the phones do not support G.729 is oncorrect. To the contrary, all telephones do support it.
