I'm reading through the upgrade document and find that it states that I can remove the drive from slot 0 before the upgrade. When reading further into the upgrade document it states that you need to put another drive into slot 0. This customer is upgrading from 4.0(2a) to 4.1(3) and they currently have an MCS7835. I guess what I'm wondering is it ok to remove drive from slot0 and then do the upgrade and when upgrade is done I can then put the drive back into slot zero and have it mirror from the updated drive that is in slot1.
Any input, would be helpful.

Also, its always best to shut down the server before removing the drive.

You can just do the upgrade with the drive removed from slot 0.
They just say that in the document as a best practice.
Putting another drive in slot 0 will actually speed up the upgrade process so you may want to do it but again, its no required.

So when I'm finished with the upgrade, I just reinstall the drive back in slot zero and it will remirror itself?

yes (assuming your mcs-7835 is the HP flavor and not the IBM flavor).
