Replacing UCS

Hi guys

I'm problems with HDD in UCS - Cisco UCS C210 M2. After 2 changes of HDD, the TAC ask for replace the chassi.

I never did that. I need replace all components, including motherboard....

I take the guides for rack mount and now I want known if the buddies already replacing UCS C210, open and removing the motherboard and all internal componenets and HDD and if had problem with RAID because the Cisco Tac guarantee that I dont need re-do RAID or reinstall the UC applications.

Best Regards

Peterson

Replacing UCS

Hi mate,

With UCS it's pretty straightforward process.

Document your current IP/vSwitch configuration on the ESXi hypervisor

Shut down and copy your VMs offbox.

Connect new chassis to appropriate switches/VLANs.

Power up new chassis, make sure RAID volumes are in place.

Install ESXi, apply ESXi license.

Create second Datastore using the second RAID volume.

Configure vSwitch.

Upload VMs to the second Datastore and add them into vSphere.

Power up the VMs.

If you use CIMC, configure it.

Let me know if any questions.

Cheers,

Boris

Replacing UCS

Hi Boris

So I need reinstall the ESXi?

And I need re-create both RAID....

And backup the datastore....

Because I will change all HD also to the new chassis.

I am not sure that your current HDDs can be seamlessly migrated into the new UCS RAID controller.

If Cisco ships you a brand new UCS box with HDDs under UC SKU, most likely it will have the RAID preconfigured.
