Hi All.

One of our all clients is asking for a documentation regarding the differences and comparsion between the Restricted and Unrestricted Versions of the Cisco Unified Call Manager Versions .

I for one know that it is something to do with the regions they are delivered ( North Korea and some other specifications and some encryption and other stuff for US army  and all that info regarding the ISO ) , but would really appreciate , where i  can get a consolidated  cisco doc for the difference between the two types of call manager versions .

Regards,

Abhishek Singh

There isn't one, search CCO for unrestricted + communications manager and you'll pretty much get only RNs/data sheets where this is explained.

The only difference is that one has encryption enabled and the other one does not.

U.S. Export Restrictions on Cisco Unified Communications Manager

The  encryption capabilities included in Cisco Unified Communications  Manager are subject to U.S. export restrictions. Previous versions of  Cisco Unified Communications Manager (with the exception of Release  7.1(5)) were all classified as U.S. export "Restricted". This  restriction can cause delays and additional complexity for some  customers in other countries. Therefore, Cisco Unified Communications  Manager 8.5 is offered in two varieties to best meet the needs of all  customers. Customers may order either the U.S. export "Restricted" or  U.S. export "Unrestricted" versions of the product. The U.S. export  Restricted version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager provides all  the encryption capabilities inherent in previous U.S. export Restricted  releases. The U.S. export Unrestricted version of Cisco Unified  Communications Manager does not provide signaling and media encryption,  but is otherwise functionally equivalent (including the encryption of  other types of data) to the U.S. export Restricted version of Cisco  Unified Communications Manager. Deploying the U.S. export Unrestricted  version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager is a choice that  customers should make carefully. After the U.S. export Unrestricted  version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager is installed, it cannot  be converted into any U.S. export Restricted version of Cisco Unified  Communications Manager. If a customer wishes to change from Unrestricted  to Restricted, a full reinstall and reprovisioning is required.
