Retired CM4 server joining CM7 cluster

Existing 7.1.2 cluster, wishing to add a retired CM4 server, for the purpose of serving as a dedicated tftp server.  Is the upgrade path the same as if it were a new cluster? or does it change b/c its joining an existing cluster?

If by upgrade path you mean ordering an upgrade kit and getting licenses, etc. Then yeah, more or less.

If by upgrade path you mean you would use DMA, then no. You will want to check the hardware (cpu/ram/hdd) to make sure it lines up with (a) supported hardware and (b) your existing cluster capacity/server models. For example, don't stick a mcs 7825 into a cluster of mcs 7845 servers hosting 10,000 users. That is asking for trouble.

All you really need (once you validate the hardware) is a valid node license (the upgrade kit will get you this) and the software install media (upgrade kit or existing is fine). You will then add the server as a new cluster subscriber. Basically it is a new install of server into an existing system, not an upgrade.
