Ringback/Progress tones from PSTN (CUCM 7.x -> SIP VG -> PRI)

Guys

I have got a problem with receiving ringback and progress tones from PSTN before a call gets answered. I've found out that I need to send an SDP from CUCM to the Cisco VG router before 200 OK message in order to get an early media (ringback/progress audio).

a) First option (Enable Early offer - fist INVITE sent with an SDP)

Unfortunately I don't have enough DSPs on the VG to turn on an MTP.

b) Second option (Enable Rel1xx)

I don't want to enable it globally. Is there any way how to turn on Rel1xx messages on CUCM 7.x per trunk basics?

c) Are there any other options how to do that?

Calling party: SCCP Cisco Phone

Called party:  PSTN destination

Trunk configuration: No MTP, Delayed offer (first INVITE w/o SDP)

Service parameters -> Cisco CallManager -> Rel1xx: Disabled (default)

Thank you for answers.

Hi Radoslav,

A couple of answers I  can think of based on your questions are the following....

a) since  you don't have resources on the  sip gateway .  Use the callmanger software mtp on the sip trunk by checking it on the sip trunk page on the callmanger . If  this is not acceptable then move to points (b) and (c) but this will require a callmanger upgrade

b) yes you can enable /disable Rel1xx at the sip profile and apply to the trunk. (this is available in callmanger version 8.0) .  Link to the doc given below..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/8_0_2/ccmcfg/b06siprf.html

c) the other option I can think of is to upgrade the callmanger to version 8.5  as you have the option to use early offer

without the need to use mtp . The option is present under the sip profile  and is called "Early Offer support for voice and video calls "  . Link to the doc below...

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/8_5_1/delta/delta.html

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Karthik
