Router can't ping remote network

Hi,

I've got some Cisco 2901 routers configured with VPN tunnels to an ASA5510 (multiple networks on both sides).

The tunnel works correctly from network to network. The router itself however can not ping any of the remote networks.

If ping from the router while setting the source address to the internal IP, the pings complete successfully.

So I know that the router is trying to contact the remote networks using its external IP and that's why it's failing

How can I force the router to contact those remote networks using the internal IP?

You can ping it with the source address of the lan interface:

ping source

Hi John,

Yes I know.

I guess maybe I should have expanded on why I need this.

The router has FXS/FXO ports and the call manager is on the other side of the VPN.

Therefore the router can't register with the callmanager.

mgcp bind control source-interface

mgcp bind media source-interface
