Router Hardware to Connect DS3 for Voice

We currently have Cisco routers (2800 series) where we terminate PRI circuits.  These routers in turn use SIP to talk to our PBX.  We  do both inbound/outbound this way.

We are getting ready to have our Telco hand us a DS3 circuit for voice.  Our current configuration allows us to terminate 4 PRI circuits per router.  Obviously, the DS3 contains 28 PRI’s and we don’t want to have to purchase a rack full of Cisco routers.  We are looking for a router that will allow us to terminate the DS3 circuit with one connection and then utilize all of the PRI’s and subsequently voice channels available to us.

I’m having a hard time finding the router model, interface modules, and other necessary components to support our needs.

Does anybody know what modules/router/DSPs I would need to accomplish?

Thanks,

Pete Sepulveda

You need an AS5400 or similar for that, with a channelized DS3 card.

Since there aren't cheap, recommend that you decide on the model to buy seeing related prices before going into the complete configuration, that has to be done by a reputable consultant, or UC certified Cisco partner anyway.
