RTP packets out of sequence & Jitter buffer Drops

Hi all,

We were experiencing dead air on calls and hence i just went ahead and enabled the sniffer to check whats going on behind the scenes.

The sniffer traces revealed there are a lot of out of sequence RTP packet and jitter buffer Delays.

What can be a possible cause and solution to this problem.

BTW, current setup is h323 gatekeeper controller Voice Gateways and Cisco IPCC with outbound solution.

Re: RTP packets out of sequence & Jitter buffer Drops

bad QOS or the non-existence of QOS on the network would be the problem.

it does not matter how the call is routed since the RTP is between endpoints so you can take the GK from the picture.

you would need to look at every single device thru which the RTP travels to verify where the issue is. but just telling by the problem description QOS (or lack of it) is the most likely cause
