Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi Frode,

Yes, BAT is a great tool for adding multiple users. It can be used for 1 up installs as well. It is probably quicker to configure single users on the fly but using a desired Template does offer consistancy. Get to know BAT it is most definitely your good friend :)

Hope this helps!

i don't know for CCM 5.x, but if it can help in CCM4.x you can found in route plan/routeplan report and search for unassigned DN

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi Frode,

Try this method via the Route Plan Report;

Unassigned Directory Numbers

This section describes how to find an unassigned directory number from the route plan report. Directory numbers get configured and removed in the Directory Number Configuration window of Cisco CallManager Administration. When a directory number gets removed from a device or a phone gets deleted, the directory number still exists in the Cisco CallManager database. To delete the directory number from the database, use the Route Plan Report window.

Procedure

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 Choose Route Plan > Route Plan Report.

The Route Plan Report window displays. Use the three drop-down list boxes to specify a route plan report that lists all unassigned DNs.

From this good doc;

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Cedric, you are far too fast for my baboon-like typing skills :)

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Thank you for the advice. I have one more question. There are 5000 users on this call manager, and they are all under different number. Like exctension 71xxx - 79xxx and there are sveral exctensions like this.

How can I find what numbers are not in use on all 5000 users, not the phones that aren`t active, but phones set up but never used by end user.

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi Frode,

First off, you are most welcome :) This type of search for under-used or under utilised DN's is going to be tough. There is no built-in funtionality or report that will show you this information. You may be able to do something with CDR Reports (especially 3rd party products) that show an Extension by Extension overview of Incoming and Outgoing call summaries per month.

This has always been a dilemma with all PBX systems, IP or TDM. If you suspect a phone is not being used my advice would be to disable it for a specific period of time and see if anyone complains. Be careful with this though as there are phones in every environment that are rarely if ever used but are there for Emergency situations.

Don't want to be the person who disrupts the Emergency/Security communications system.

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi Rob,

Again Thank you..

I have yet again a question.

If I am adding 40 new users to the call manager, and I do not want to do it manually on all 40. I can use the bulk administration for this ? I have also been looking at the template function in call manager. Can the template function only be used on bulk admin on new users ?

Or could I set up a template and use it only on 1 user as well ?

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi again Rob,

I found that With the 4.x and earlier versions you could query the SQL database for the unused-did's.

Do you know if this is possible in the 5.1 version as well ?

Re: Search for unused numbers Call manager

Hi Frode,

From what I understand this is still possible in the CCM 5.x train as well. I am going to refer you to a thread with answers to this question from two of my favorite NetPros Mahesh and Sankar :)

Hope this helps! Let us know.
