SIP Trace Configuration

Hi guys,

I am using trace to debug a SIP endpoint registration:

SIP Device is configured to register on a specific server in the cluster, so I am concentrating the trace settings on that server.

In particular I activated :

Trace --> Configuration --> SERVER IP --> CM Services --> Cisco Call Manager and:

     Enable SIP Stack

     Enable SIP Call Processing

     Enable SIP Keep Alive

SIP_Trace.jpg

However, in the trace I get the following results:

MGCP_Trace.PNG

And no SIP TRACEs

Thanks,

Mike

SIP Trace Configuration

Uncheck the box "Device Name Based Trace Monitoring" and try, it should be fine.

SIP Door Phone Registration

I must add that eventhough some SIP messages appear, I keep getting a lot of :

mn::mgcpendpoint related messages

which look informational and I cant get rid of, even though MGCP TRACE is disabled.

any idea?

Thanks,

Mike

SIP Trace Configuration

Hi Manish,

I will try, however, I made sure the right device was included in the selection. That flag was to keep too much gargage from entering the logs

I will let you know,

Thanks

I tried, but I still get flooded with MGCP messages and no SIP.

Maybe a services needs to be bounced to take modifications?

Thanks,

SIP Trace Configuration

YES,

that was it, maybe I didnt completely understand the meaning of the flag then.

I was sure I selected the right devices to appear in the log

Thank you,

SIP Trace Configuration

Hi Mike,

Just to add here, i do not see this option in cucm 9.x, so its probably due to the following

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsv30023

remove device name based trace monitoring from web page

Symptom:
Events missing from CM SDI/SDL traces.

Conditions:
Devicename  based trace monitoring configured.  Devicename based trace monitoring  filters some events from traces that are directly related to the device  being monitored.  This is a limitation of the feature.

Workaround:
Never use devicename based trace monitoring.

Further Problem Description:
Devicename based trace monitoring is not maintained.  It is overly filtering traces so critical events are not visible.
