SIP trunk - Caller ID Name instead of number on the phones

Hi,

I have configured a SIP trunk on an UC500. Also, I added some phone numbers with their names.

Now, I want to see the name of the caller on the display of the phones. This feature works with the PRI / BRI ports. With the SIP trunk it doesn't work.

I was researching why the cause of this behavior on a SIP trunk and basically this feature mostly will work with PSTN or ISND lines, this is because the SIP trunk is sending a name field on the header in this case are number but the UC is reading this field like characters taking them for showing in the phone. As this is a name, the UC doesn’t not match any of the entries and that’s why this is shown. On ISDN or PSTN lines the providers are usually sending the number instead of the name so the UC understand the field and make the change.

How can I create a workaround?

Best regards, Wim

You can purchase my "number to name for wireless callers" TCL script, that is designed exactly for this situation.
