I have a client running CUCM 6.1.1.2000-3 and they're interested in setting up softphones. I can't seem to find any info on this. I got the softphone software but that seems to only go up to CUCM version 4.
Is there a new option for higher versions of CUCM? What's the install procedure? What are the licensing concerns?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What softphone? If you have IP communicator it works perfectly with cm 6, licensing you can see from the admin pages.
The old (very very old) softphone was a CTI aplication.
Don't know if it works with CM 6

IP Communicator supports CUCM 6 (and 7). See the following link.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/phones/ps5475/data_sheet_c78-505261.html
You will need a license for each IPC you deploy as well as the necessary DLUs within CUCM.
Hope this helps.

Take a look at the following link.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_0_1/ccmsys/a02licen.html
You will need DLUs (Device License Units) for each IPC that you deploy. IPC requires 3 DLUs each.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the fast replies! Both posts have been rated.
One follow up question: The data sheet says: Customers using Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 and later should refer to the user license guide for more information about registering Cisco IP Communicator.
Where can I find the user license guide? I was not the one who installed this particular enviroment so I'm not sure where to find this info.
Would this be specific to the version of CUCM? Or specific to the licence package purchased by my client?
Thanks again!

Don't forget about QoS with soft phones. Most existing switch configurations clear the DSCP markings from the PC which will make your call best effort.
You can either change your QoS design; or, use a TRP to remark the traffic.
QoS SRND:

Trusted Relay Points for QoS Enforcement:
