SoundStation IP 6000 Connected to Cisco 2960 PoE Switch

I recently purchased a Polycom SoundStation IP6000 phone. I connected it to various functioning WS-C2960-48PST-L (c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5) switchports - currently have many 7940G phones connected and working on the switch. The phone will not power up and associated switchport remains dark. I tried all 'power inline' command settings - phone did not power on. Disabled CDP on switchport - phone did not power on. I was able to successfully power the phone via a PowerDsine 6548 PoE unit, so I have confirmed the phone is functional. I have contacted Polycom support and they stated the phone is 802.3af compliant and then pointed me to Cisco for addtional support.

Any assistance and/or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Sean,

I would try to run the Cisco Power Calculator to determine your

power consumption requirements/usage;

http://tools.cisco.com/cpc/launch.jsp

When you did a "show power inline" did you see available power

in the budget?

Cheers!

Hi Rob,

Thanks much for answering so quickly!

I neglected to post earlier; just to make sure I wasn't running into a possible over subscription on the power I connected the IP6000 to an identical spare 2960, with no other devices attached, and the same behavior was exhibited. Quite an interesting issue. Will continue to troubleshoot.

Thanks again,

Sean

Hi Sean,

Did you try;

power inline delay shutdown 20 initial 300

on the switchport??

Cheers!

Try the following commands:

1.  Command:   test cable tdr int ;

2.  Wait for about 5 to 7 seconds;

3.  Command:  sh cable tdr int ; and

4.  Please post the output.
