Hi everyone!

Is it possible to assign speed dials to 1,2,3 buttons with CUCM 6.0.. I've heard something about it, it was referred to as Dial by Button, not sure though

Thank you in advance!

If you are talking about the number keys on the telephone keypad the Abbreviated Dial feature should do what you require.

  1. From the phone configuration page select Add/Update Speed Dials from the Related Links drop down menu - a new window will open.
  2. Add up to 99 speed dials and save.
  3. With the handset on hook enter the number of the desired speed dial (e.g. 1) and press the AbbrDial softkey.
  4. The call will be placed - pick up the handset.

Note the AbbrDial only works if you keep the phone on hook whilst dialling.

Ah that's why. The 791x does not have PLKs. You will need to use the Abbreviated Dialing feature James has cited.

Speed Dials are dependent on the phone model you are using. If you have a spare Programmable Line Key (PLK) then you can assign it a Speed Dial button type. The number you program on that button will be dialed by the phone on an associated Directory Number. While technically possible, I would not recommend putting a Speed Dial button on the first position PLK.

There are two ways to get a Speed Dial type on the phone: associate a Phone Button Template that includes Speed Dial buttons; or, manually associate a Speed Dial button to the device using the Modify Button Items button on the Phone Configuration page.

Thank you for reply.

Unfortunately, Modife Button Items doesnt give an option to assign  speed dials to buttons 1 2 or 3.

What model phone are you trying this on?

7911 or 7912
