SRST needed with VG224 and h323 gateway?

In our scenario, we have a customer with two buildings seperated by 500 feet. In the first building, we will house the CCM/VM, switches and 2851 h323Gateway/PRI's and all IP phones. In the second building we will house 2801 h323 gateway (with single FXO/analog line, five vg224, (with 110 analog faxes/phones and a switch. No IP phones in second building.

In the event that the second building looses connectivity to the CCM, will the VG224 running SCCP re-register to the 2801 router (via SRST)? Or are the vg224's not able to register with the SRST router? If this is the case, I assume we can setup the vg224's as h.323 gateways instead of using sccp, so we would not have to “register” anywhere and calls could still be sent out the single analog/fxo via same configuration? Naturually we'd have the correct dial-peers/preferences setup.

The VG-224 will work with SRST. You could use h.323 with the SRST and assuming you have the correct dial peers and routing in place, you should still be able to make calls in the event of a loss of connectivity with CCM.

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.
