(SRST) Number Expansion During System Transfer

This is kinda a follow up question to my last one.

We use a 10 digit dial plan with 5 digit abbreviated dialing within our sites. When is SRST we can transfer a call to the full ten digit extension it works, but our users would like to use the 5 digit extension.

Can I do this with a translation rule or something similar?

Thanks in advance for your help

Here is my current config

call-manager-fallback

max-conferences 10 gain -6

transfer-system full-consult

ip source-address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 2000

max-ephones 40

max-dn 80

transfer-pattern .T

default-destination 8002717060

call-forward busy 8002717060

call-forward noan 8002717060 timeout 30

You can use a translation profile and apply it to SRST such as:

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /^7/ /80027177/

!

!

voice translation-profile 4-DIGIT-SRST

translate called 1

call-manager-fallback

translation-profile incoming 4-DIGIT-SRST

Re: (SRST) Number Expansion During System Transfer

One way to do this is with the "num-exp" command. So if you want to dial 1234 and translate it to 1234567890, you could configure "num-exp 1234 1234567890".

Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

Re: (SRST) Number Expansion During System Transfer

Brandon,

I have a num-exp set globaly

num-exp 17... 8002717...

and it works for dialing other IP Phones, but not for transfering. Should it be applied elsewhere?

Re: (SRST) Number Expansion During System Transfer

So, you can dial 17... directly and it works, but if you receive a call, press the transfer key and dial 17..., the call fails? Do you get fast busy?

the gateway is in South Africa, but the the users tell me that it just waits a bit and then gives them a re-order. I will ask them in the morning just to make sure. For know I put at translation rule in for it. I hope that gets it.

Re: (SRST) Number Expansion During System Transfer

Chris, I set this up but I wont be able to test till tomorrow because the gateway is in South Africa and they are out for the day.

Here is what I did.

voice translation-rule 2

rule 1 /\(^17...$\)/ /80027\1/

!

voice translation-profile SRST_Exp

translate called 2

call-manager-fallback

translation-profile incoming SRST_Exp
