Starange behaviour of IP Phones.

Hello everyone,

We have come across many cases where the IP Phones behave strangely, an on-going call gets hang up when a second call hits the line, on-going call goes on hold when a second call hits the line, call goes on hold straight away when answered etc.

Re-creating phone has solved the issue in all the cases> But, out of curiosity, can anyone advise what could be the problem with the phones that make them behave so?

++James.

Hello James,

Thank you for your post!

From experience if a phone is misbehaving as you described, there is usually some other entity involved. Is your CUCM integrated in any way with a 3rd party system which has control over phones via CTI? Or do users use CUPC or similar applications to control phones etc?

Thanks for the quick reply John.

Yes, we have a third party call center application integrated with CUCM(7.1.3) and its name is Apropos, and obviously it controls phones through CTI. But I am not sure if all the phones that had the above mentioned problem were CTI controlled because most of them were not associated with the app user.

We have MOCS integrated with CUCM.

So are you using CUCiMOC with MOC to allow you to control your Deskphone's? I would try to see if you can narrow down some correlation with the phones that have/had issues and see if any of those users actively use MOC (presuming they are using CUCiMOC to control the phone) or if they are in any way related to the 3rd party app you have. Then you will at least have a good starting point as to where to look.
