Swapping hard drives on Unity Connection Publisher/Primary

Hello,

There is a faulty drive on our MCS 7845 Unity Connection server (red LED flashing).

This server is in a cluster and is the Publisher and currently running as Primary. I'm assuming the drives are in RAID 1 configuration and that they are hot swappable.

Do I have to deactivate this server before replacing the drive or can I replace on the fly? About how long is the rebuild process once the new drive is inserted in?

Thanks!

Marvin

Cisco are really poor at documenting the hardware aspects of their MCS servers.

You can use the "show hardware" command at the server console to show the status of the drives.

With 7845 servers (HP variant) I have replaced disks on the fly without any trouble.

It generally takes approx 30 minutes to mirror a disk on a new system.

7825 servers do not support hot swap so you have to reboot and go into the drive management utility to set the replacement options.
