Time wrong on 7970's with CME 3.3

I have had this issue for over a year with one client!! Its making me want to scream!

They have a 2801 running 12.4(3) code and CME 3.3...they have 3 7970s and for the LIFE of me I can't figure out why I can't get the clock to be correct on them.

I have gone through the troubleshooting guides that are out there and tried off set the incorrect time with the time-zone command but to no avail.

When i issue the show telephony-service tftp-bindings command, i dont see the SEP file for any of the 3 7970s that they have. The troubleshooting guide says you should see them, but not what to do if you don't.

TAC had no clue, so i am turning to our community.

Please assist!

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Hi goldbergi,

Please type 'debug tftp events' and 'terminal monitor', then restart the phone. Make sure you have 'type 7970' under 'ephone XXX'. Post the result here. You will see which config file is given to the phones, to start with.

I have done this multiple times already and its pulling some default xml file, not the 7970xmldefault file. No SEP files exist either in the tftp-bindings...I have opened another TAC case and they too can't seem to figure out what it is yet...ODD!!!

Re: Time wrong on 7970's with CME 3.3

Hi,

I've tried to configure a 7970 (that I don't really have) on my CME 4.1:

ephone 12

mac 0000.1111.2222

type 7970

and show telephony-service tftp-bindings reveals:

tftp-server system:/its/XMLDefault7970.cnf.xml alias SEP000011112222.cnf.xml

So I think that until you get to this point (possibily upgrade the CME ?), it's no good.

How hard a process is it to upgrade (at the risk of hi-jacking my own thread)....do i need to upgrade the code on the router as well?

Thanks,

JG

Re: Time wrong on 7970's with CME 3.3

If you upgrade to CME 4.0.x, that is IOS 12.4(9)T, you will only have benefits. New features, code fixes, etc...
