Transcoder query

IS a transcoder required to enable off-net parties to join an ad-hoc conference call? ( the initiator is an on-net party using a 7940 registered to CCM 4.1(3)).

that depends on the codecs involved, if you're using the SW CFB and try to use G729 then you need a XCODER, if you're using a HW CFB with G729 enabled then there is no need for XCODER

SW CFB only handles G711

this issue is resolved now & I didn't need to configure XCODER once I switched to HW CFB.
