CUCM 6.1
CallXpress 6.x (using a VM pilot and profile in CUCM)
essentially the VM has sccp emulation ports that look like 7940s for each VM port
VM pilot - 8200
DID users - 8000-8200
VM only users - 4000-4200 (no DID #s)
We have some users from our PBX migration that never had real extensions or DID numbers. The way the PBX apparently dealt with that was they made dummy extensions, not tied to any phone that went directly to VM.
In my process to eliminate our PBX -without expanding our DID pool- i would like to find a way to keep those numbers. The VM still has the mailboxes in it, however i'm not sure how best to set up CUCM so that the front desk can forward calls directly to those mailboxes.
Would a "headless extension" be the best option? Meaning a number not tied to a physical phone that forwards direct to VM? Or is there a less annoying way than adding 200 headless extensions.

You can create CTI Ports that do a 'Call Forward All' to voicemail.
