Two CCME Routera at a single location

Hi all,

Am trying to propose a CCME solution with two callmanagers at a site as shown in the attached diagram. I understand it can work perfectlly with an enterprise solution ( Cisco Callmanager Server) but i am price conciuos here. I want to know if this slution is feasible and the likely consequenncies after implementing it.

I will appreciate your responses.

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

Hello Peter,

You can use two CMEs at the same location, but the configuation will be more difficult because you have to configure dial-peers to communicate between the CMEs, also the voice mail (CUE) will be split so some agents will have voice mail in one device and other ones in the second router. One of the major issues will be the lack of redundancy because CME in a 3845 can have up to 250 IP Phones.

I do not recommend this solution as typically is source of trouble and confusion.

If 450 phones is enough for you, get a 3945-E. Otherwise, get CM.

Big companies cannot expect to spend like they were small.

Can 3945-E act as a CallManager Express?

Certainly.

All voice routers do.

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

Thanks for your response. Am aware that all voice routers do cme. But does the router 3945-E come already bundled with the CME software embeded on it? Or do I need to download and install the software on the router?

What's the max number of IP Phones this can accommodate?

Read documentation to learn how CME licensing works on ISR G2

Sorry I have noticed unfair rating in this thread.

In the future I will make sure to avoid interacting again, so good luck.

Hi Bevilacqua

I appreciate you contribution thus far. Am so sorry about the unfair rating (according to you). But i've not been answerred completely.

I am aware that the max number of IP Phones for a cme router is 250. All I wanted to know is if I can use a single router (the 3945-E) as a cme to accommodate up to 450 IP Phones as you state. If so how do I achieve it. Please dont get angry with me. Am only trying to learn more.

Thank you!

I have already replied above with a link, have you read it ?

If it is not you leaving inappropriate rating, you can always go back and rate posts to compensate.

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

He CME is a feature that comes with IOS, so you need to use any IOS that is voice capable.

This a small configuation example of CME:

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

I also agree with the need for a CUCM and not CUCME, but this discussion has brought out another question pertaining to his needs.  If you did go with a 3945E with 450 phones you would need 2 NME-CUE modules due to each module only supporting 275 mailboxes.  Is it possible to run 2 CUE on the same router with the same CUCME deployment?

I think it would be fairly easy to get voicemails into the mailboxes (cfna set to the respective voicemail pilot for the each CUE), but if my memory serves me correctly the hunt pilot config on the CUCME is a global config which only supports 1 pilot number.  If that pilot number is set to CUE #1, then how would phones tied to CUE #2 retrieve their messages shy of dialing the pilot number manually and then manually signing into CUE?

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

When bought in SRE version (SM-SRE-700-K9) CUE supports up to 500 mailboxes. That will be available with software 8.0

In most cases, having 450 extensions does not mean 450 VM boxes, because typically many extensions do not need one.

If needed, it's easy to setup a translation rule so that in system where boxes are split across two CUE, the correct access number is always reached.

Re: Two CCME Routera at a single location

100% Agreed, I have been seen so many extrange issues with this kind of deployments, as

I said it can be done but its very hard to get it working properly.
