UC540 - Voicemail to email / routing issues from CME

I found an issue while trying to setup voicemail to email in the system. When I setup the SMTP server, the test results would show that it was unable to resolve / find the smtp server. This led me directly to a DNS issue. I logged into the UC540 and pinged the smtp server and found it to resolve correctly. Then I connected to the CME server by typing in

"service-module integrated-services-engine 0/0 session"

Once in, I tried to ping the same address and it failed. I pinged the default gateway and that failed as well. I am able to ping the 10.1.10.2 address which I thought was the UC540 side of the device but nothing else. Here is the output of the "sh ip route" on the CME

Main Routing Table:

which doesn't look off to me. The output of the same command on the routing side of the device is:

Gateway of last resort is 10.11.12.1 to network 0.0.0.0

      10.0.0.0/8 is variably subnetted, 7 subnets, 3 masks

C        10.1.10.0/30 is directly connected, Loopback0

S        10.1.10.1/32 is directly connected, Integrated-Service-Engine0/0

L        10.1.10.2/32 is directly connected, Loopback0

C        10.11.11.0/24 is directly connected, BVI100

L        10.11.11.1/32 is directly connected, BVI100

C        10.11.12.0/24 is directly connected, BVI1

L        10.11.12.254/32 is directly connected, BVI1

Everything looks fine to me. I am able to log into the web GUI of the CME to setup the SMTP server as mentioned before but for some reason, it can't get out to the internet.

Throughts?

UC540 - Voicemail to email / routing issues from CME

To add a note.. The gateway for this appliance is a Comcast modem/router. I set a static route on it for 10.0.10.1 to 10.11.12.254 (ip of UC540) and now the CUE is able to ping the router but still unable to ping anything on the outside. Is this due to the subnets?

I believe the issue is with the gateway. I am going to continue to look into this but it has something to do with the routing tables.

Are you trying to pass your email outside your network (to the internet)?  If so, you have to make sure port 25 is able to be reached.  Lots of providers block that.
