Hello,
I am simply trying to understand how VoIP works on a cisco 3750 and avaya phone. The switch uses CDP and LLDP. Avaya phones can obtain IP addresses using DHCP or Static assignments. Are static assignments more secure? How does the phone learn the voice vlan ID? From my reading it appears the switch should advertise the voice vlan ID through CDP or DHCP, correct? Then I think the phone can then connect or register with the PBX or VoIP server? Perhaps someone can point me to some good resources?
Thanks,
Joe
