Unity 10.5.1 uploading wav files into greetings

Hello

I'm running into a brick wall trying to remember how to upload wav files for greetings into an existing call handler mailbox.  I've done this before, but for some reason it's not working.

When saving a wav file from a greeting, is there a certain format one must use in order to upload it into a mailbox?

I've gone to the greeting, standard in this case, and opened up the play/record and tried to save the wav file I had uploaded to my desktop.  It doesn't like the file name when I try to save the greeting.

I've done this before, but it has been so long I think I'm missing something.

Please help!

thanks

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

There are a number of solutions in this good tech note;

Cheers!

Hi Rob

Thank you for the info.  I've used Audacity to convert it to the correct format.  I can open the file and play the greeting, but I don't see anything that says import.  Do I just save the change?  When I do that i get the error 'Failed to record name'.  Is there a specific format I should be naming the file?

Carolyn

It's definitely do-able I think you're just having java issues.

Looks like you do it from play/record. Maybe try from an older server, or older version of java? May have to add to java exception list

How do I add to a java exception list?  I'm able to open the file and listen to it, but when saving it keeps saying failed to save name.  Is this really a java issue or a naming format issue of the wav file?

Carolyn

Search java in Windows and there should be something called "Configure Java" and then from there go to the security tab.

Can you upload a screenshot of the error?

Carolyn,

What errors do you get. I did this recently and I had similar issue but I think I was getting Java cert error or something like that.

Please refer to some of these links to see if any helps

Here you go , find the below steps helpful

++Once you have the file loaded in Audacity (or recorded), do the following:
++ In Audacity, set the 'Project Rate (Hz)' in the bottom left hand corner to ‘8000’

It is also important that you have it set to MONO (one channel only).
This can be achieved by clicking on the drop down arrow of the track and selecting ‘Split Stereo to Mono’ and then clicking the ‘x’ on one of the now separated tracks.

Now it’s time to export the file…
Select 'File'.
Select 'Export'.

Change the 'Save as type' to 'Other uncompressed files' (yes, it’s a bit misleading as it will make a file that is a lot smaller than the 44000 Hz WAV equivalent - but it isn't actually compressed, simply less samples a second and therefore a smaller file size).
Click the 'Options' button (bottom right).

Select 'WAV (Microsoft)' for 'Header'.
Select 'U-Law' for 'Encoding'.

Save this file and load it into Unity CH.

Hi Carolyn,

Just to add a note to the great info from my friends Deji, Sean & Abhay (+5 each) I think you are likely hitting this bug;

CUC Greetings Upload "failed to record name"
Symptom:
Attempting to upload greetings file for user or call handler using the CUC Administration web page.

Java applet loads and can open file, but when hit "save" on page, see error message "failed to record name"

Conditions:

Workaround:
Before hitting "save" on page, use applet to play the file back to phone, as described in supportforums article:
