A customer wishes to have Unity to play back messages as GSM6.10, which I have achieved using the Set Record Format tool.
Is it possible to set the transport between the Unity server and CallManager (e.g. Unity TSP) to use GSM6.10 or can it only be either G711uLaw or G729? Using GSM6.10 natively would allow the transcoding to be carried out on Hardware transcoders as the customer is concerned about the loading on the Unity Server as it is now recording the messages in GSM6.10.
G.729a is a codec (compressor/decompressor) that is being included with Cisco Unity beginning with Unity 2.4.5. The codec is used in recording and playing back voice messages. It is an alternative to the u-Law codec, which has been used in the past. u-Law is still the default codec, but G.729a can now be selected if the administrator chooses to do so.
Sites which enable this support should not see a significant impact on CPU usage or port capacity. This will be true whether the voice board hardware supports these formats, or if the stream conversion occurs in the software.
To play voice messages recorded with G.729a codec compression using Unified Messaging, a version of ViewMail for Outlook (VMO) greater than or equal to 188.8.131.52 must be installed.

The short answer is that you don't.... That isn't entirely true while at
the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
