Upgrade CCM 4.2 from 4.0

Hi, I have a CCM version 4.0 and I would like upgrade the version to the version 4.2.3 (whitout disk).

I am using the "Upgrading Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2(3)" guide and in the step "Inserting the Disk or Downloading the Web File",

and the guide say "Step 7 Download the Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2(3) upgrade file to your hard drive. ". And I go to Download Software section " Voice and Unified Communications  > Cisco Unified CallManager Version 4.2 ", and this files are showed:

IP Phone Tools and Utilities
Security Agent Policy Software for Unified Communications Manager/CallManager
Security Agent System Software for Unified Communications Manager/CallManager
Unified Communications Manager Network Locale Installer
Unified Communications Manager Timezone Updates
Unified Communications Manager Updates
Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Device Packages
Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Extended Services
Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Locale Installer
Unified Communications Manager/CallManager Upgrade Assistant
Voice Applications OS and BIOS Updates

What is the file Upgrade file, from the list?

Re: Upgrade CCM 4.2 from 4.0

Hi Ricardo,

The files would be here;

Unified Communications Manager Updates

I'll do some further checking on the actual upgrade for these versions

when I get back from my meeting

Cheers!

Re: Upgrade CCM 4.2 from 4.0

Hi Ricardo,

I just wanted to verify that this was a supported upgrade and method

You should be good to go!

Upgrading Your Cisco Unified CallManager Server (When You Are Not Replacing Hardware)

You cannot upgrade directly from Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier to Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. If your server runs a version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier, you must first upgrade every server in the cluster to the latest version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, 4.0, or 4.1 before you can upgrade to a version of Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. For information on upgrading to Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, refer to the latest version of Upgrading Cisco CallManager Release 3.3.

Note If you are upgrading from Cisco CallManager 3.3, you must use the disks from the Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2(3) software kit.

If you are upgrading from Cisco Unified CallManager 4.0, you can upgrade by using the disks from the Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2(3) software kit or by using the web download file.

Re: Upgrade CCM 4.2 from 4.0

Now, I would like upgrade the Cisco Call Manager version 4.2 to the version 7 ?

What is the path to reach the version 7, from a version 4.2(3) ?

I have a new server compatible with CUCM v 7.

Re: Upgrade CCM 4.2 from 4.0

Hi Ricardo,

Great work so far

You need to have a close look at the following docs (for starters)

Upgrading to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 7.1(2) from 4.x Releases

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/upgrade/7_1_2/upgrd712.html

You will be using the Import Windows Data method;
(Windows upgrade)

This option allows you to import database information from a 4.x system by using a file that the Data Migration Assistant (DMA) tool produces.

Data Migration Assistant User Guide Release 7.1(2)

Cheers!
