Upgrade from CUCM 7.1.5 to 8.6 will migrate data?

Hi,

Which is the upgrade path for 7.1.5 to 8.6? All the data is migrated? Is there any special DVD for upgrade or is it valid the one of the installation?

I have a DVD with version 8.6, which is labeled as "Installation disk" (not upgrade disk).

I have started the upgrade and has detected the previous version 7.1.5 and the new version to install (8.6) but then the following question is made:

Do you want to overwrite your hard disk?

If I answer "no"  installation is cancelled, but my doubt is if I answer "yes", the data will be migrated by the installation process or I will lose it?

Is it possible to restore the backup done in version 7.1.5 when I have installed version 8.6?

I didn´t find any upgrade document in Cisco web, only installation procedures.

With a valid ESW/UCSS contract you can order upgrade media through the Product Upgrade Tool (PUT).  Do not try a new installation if you wish to keep your data.  The PUT tool can be accessed here...

Yes, the info will be migrated.

If you're going to 8.6(2) info is also in the RNs.

NO, backup and restore can only be done on the EXACT same version (all the way to SRs/ESs)

Hi Castrillor,

The move to CUCM 8.6 contains a different process called a "Refesh" upgrade

as a first step you install;

ciscocm.refresh_upgrade_v1.0.cop.sgn

or

ciscocm.refresh_upgrade_v1.1.cop.sgn

this will then allow the upgrade using the DVD's you have, to proceed.
