Upgrading from CUCM 6.1(3) to CUCM 6.1(5)

Is there a way to speed up the upgrade installation in a production environment?

In my lab, I installed 6.1(5) in the inactive partition the following order:

-          Publisher

-          TFTP

-          Subscriber (backup)

-          Subscriber (primary)

Then I switched versions the same order in ~10mins intervals. The entire upgrade took about 5hrs.

Can I download and install 6.1(5) on all four server’s inactive partitions at the same time? Or maybe Pub first then the rest of the servers? The upgrade will be done after hours.

Thanks!

Hi

You can install the servers concurrently, but the subscribers will not allow the install to start until around 20 minutes into the install on the publisher (i.e. after the image has transferred and the actual install starts, + 20 minutes).

Obviously you'll want to select the option to NOT reboot automatically - if the publisher install then fails your subs may complete OK and reboot to the new version before the publisher which you won't want...

Hi

You can upgrade the PUB to 6.1.5 and start Subs and TFTP at the same time to upgrade to 6.1.5 version.

Here is the Documentation on that
