User Acount LDAP link CM and Unity Con

Hi there,

I have a CM Business edition 7.1 integrated with LDAP.

A user surname has change so her username has change. This change was then done on AC so in CM the old account was automatically deleted and a new one generated. That all works fine.

The issue is with Unity Con. The new account in CM with the new Username is pointing to her old Unity Con account with the old Username. She cannot access her voice mail.

Is there a way of breaking the link between the CM account and the Unity Account? I just want to delete her old Unity Connection Account and create a new one with her new surname

Any ideas welcome..

Cheers

Alexis

Hi Alexis,

Have a look at this good thread with excellent details from Brad @ Cisco

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the reply.

In the thread Brad says "If Connection is integrated with an LDAP directory, you must delete the user both in the LDAP directory and in Connection. If you delete the user only in Connection...."

My issue is that i cannot see/find how you delete the user / mail box in only Unity Connection. I am assuming that because its CallManager Business Edition and integrated with LDAP it has to be deleted in LDAP?

Hi Alexis,

Oops! My bad....I didn't read the Business Edition reference The user must be deleted via CUCM as the first step;

If this user is configured in Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection, the user association to Cisco Unified Communications Manager gets broken when you delete the user in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. You can delete the orphaned user in Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection Administration. See the applicable User Moves, Adds, and Changes Guide for Cisco Unity Connection for more information. Refer to the applicable System Administration Guide for Cisco Unity for more Cisco Unity information. Deleting the user will delete all messages in the user voice mailbox.

From Master Lindborg;

"CoRes (business edition) doesn't let you bulk delete users out of Connection - you have to do it from the Call Manager side of the fence to keep the DB links between the two clean"

Thanks Rob.

As the client cannot delete the User in AD would changing the Users Telephone number attribute in AD have the same effect?

Would the user details change in CM and in Unity Connection would the account become and an orphaned allowing it to be deleted?

Cheers
